Why All The Weight Loss Posts?

I’ve been writing a lot about diet and weight loss lately, and I thought it would be a good time to talk a little bit about why a site ostensibly about embracing one’s warrior essence is talking about low-calorie diets.

Because, apparently, not everyone gets it.

First, let’s start with a minor confession. You see, my mind works in all kinds of weird ways. One of those quirks of mine is something I call “interest cycling.” Basically, I get interested in something and unless it’s constantly reinforced, it fades and something else takes its place.

Yes, it’s a pain in the ass.

Anyway, that’s a part of it and part of why posts tend to focus on one or two particular topics at a time and then shift into something else. Which I get is annoying if you follow this blog for one particular type of information and I get focused on something else. I apologize. I want to work out a way to fix that, just so you know.

Another part mostly stems from the before and after pics I posted a couple of weeks back. The truth is that it spurred a lot of comments and questions, and I couldn’t put it all in a single post. Sorry, but it just wouldn’t.

As a result, I’ve spent a lot of words trying to answer those questions and to discuss the topic because, well, people can see the results and figure I know a thing or two about it.

The truth is, I’m not finished just yet either.

Finally, though, is a very simple fact that we all need to be cognizant of. Two-thirds of all Americans are properly classified as either obese or overweight. As such, I have to assume that most of the people I’m trying to reach fall into that category to some degree or another.

Now, let me ask you, how effective is a badass who has a heart attack just trying to go check the mail every day?

Right. Not very.

If you’re serious about protecting yourself and your family, the first thing you have to protect yourself from health issues. Those are far more likely to kill you than any assassin or criminal. While you’re going to die of something at some point, the truth of the matter is that everyone should be working to put that day off for as long as possible.

Further, as you work to lose weight and get fit–and if you’re already lean, then you don’t need any of this, I know, but there will be stuff you’ll be interested in later, I’m sure–you also get better equipped for any fights you may find yourself in.

Believe me, the last thing you want to be doing in a life-or-death battle is to find yourself gassed, after all.

In truth, there’s literally no advantage to being overweight but there are tons (pun intended) of disadvantages in it. With that in mind, why wouldn’t someone want to lose weight?

Again, this is probably not what everyone wants, and I get that, but after I get this information out, I’ll refocus on something else because it’ll be done. For now, anyway.

So that’s why.
