God forbid you ever have to get into a real fight again in your life, but if you do, one of the hardest things for many people to deal with is getting out of a headlock. I remember one fight I had where I’d been in one, and while I was still throwing punches left and right, it still felt humiliating to be controlled like that.
Luckily, the YouTube channel “fightTIPS” has got us covered on that front.
Now, don’t think for a minute this will make you a badass. It won’t. This is a specific counter for a specific hold.
Hell, the chances are good that if you only watch this video and do nothing else, you will not be able to successfully deploy this technique when you need it. That means practice.
The reality is that while you can learn to throw a punch at a heavy bag, there are some things you can’t do to a static object like that. This is where having a tribe comes in handy. That’s where yo can find someone who wants to learn these things as well.
Even then, my recommendation is to not go looking to brawl. There will always be someone badder than you think you are, and it’s a good way to be hurt.
However, that real badass doesn’t care about you. He’s got nothing to prove in his own mind so he won’t mess with you if you don’t mess with him. I’ll talk more a bit later about the nature of real badasses later, but for now, all you need to understand is they’re unlikely to start anything.
The guy looking to brawl is usually someone who feels inferior and has something to prove. He’ll take a bump in a night club as some grave insult and demand satisfaction, ready to throw down at a moment’s notice, not because he’s that honor-minded, but because it’s an excuse.
It’s up to you how you deal with it. There’s no shame in trying to resolve the situation peacefully, especially if you actually do bear some fault in the matter. “Hey, I’m sorry about that. My bad. Let me buy you a beer.”
For a lot of guys, that’s enough. They feel like they “won” while everyone else is just relieved that Joe isn’t going to fight over stupid crap again.
Sometimes, that’s not an option.
Either way, just understand that if you only know the stuff in the two videos I’ve shared, you’re woefully under-equipped for a street fight.
